Theft Aware 2.0 is a anti theft software for Nokia N8 and other Symbian^3 devices. Like any other anti theft application, Theft Aware allows you to take control of your stolen phone remotely via SMS and web based interface. However, there are a number of features in this application that makes it superior than any other similar application. Theft Aware comes with a stealth mode which removes every trace of the application on the phone which means the bad guy won't get to know that the phone has an anti theft application loaded. I have personally verified this and the application does not appear in the App Manager as well which is amazing. UPnP (Universal Plug n Play) is something that everyone misses with Nokia N8 and we surely hope we have this in next firmware release which is due early next year. Dukto is a combination of two applications which includes a client which has to be installed on your PC and the main application to be installed on your phone (only 81 kb). The supported operating systems include Windows (XP, Vista, 7), OS X (intel 10.5.x and 10.6.x) and Linux.

Tron HD is a premium tank game for Nokia N8 and other Symbian^3 devices. It is based on the popular movie released recently by Disney, Tron. Tron takes full advantage of the N8's graphics engine and delivers stunning effects. It is a two thumb game, the left thumb helps maneuver the tank and the right thumb helps manage the weapons targeting. Technically, Tron is a 2D game but still manages to amaze you with the game play. The entire graphics design is purely based on the movie and the same music background score in the game as well.

Iron Sight for Nokia N8 is an action packed game. If you have played Pocket Tanks, you will find a lot of familiarity with Iron Sight as well. This is a very addictive game which can be played in a multi-player mode which includes playing with your friends on the same phone (as Player1 & Player2) or online using one of the game servers. The game is very simple which includes two enemy groups Rebellion and Corporation. You can join any of the groups and your aim is to eliminate the enemy group. Suggests the alarms that you may wish to turn on based on your previous usage. It prompts you for a battery recharge when it dips beyond a specific level depending on your usage. The algorithm behind Nokia Bots is definitely complex and difficult for us to guess but still the functionality is amazing and that is what we are concerned with. It is somewhat on the lines of Artificial Intelligence and I love the way it is going to make my life easier.

Pixelpipe for Nokia N8 has revolutionized the way you can share pictures, videos, files and audio using your phone. Ovi Maps has now upgraded to a new version which is v3.06 which has a long list of improvements and enhancements. The major enhancement is the inclusion of the Public Transport Lines in the maps. This is going to give an edge to Nokia N8 as a GPS device in many countries that still do not have major GPS players. What really amazes me about Nokia is the effort which it has put in mapping cities in many countries which are not yet mapped by the home grown GPS companies. These cities tend to be very tricky in terms of mapping roads and places as they are old and not organized (in terms of city planning). Indian cities are a big example in this context and now that we have transport lines included, makes Ovi Maps much more wanted.

Ovi Social is now available for Nokia N8 via Software Update. So all the N8 owners who either had a corrupt installation of the application or missing the application can get the application. Many editions of the phone did not have 'Social' in some part of the world. I have tested this Social install via SW Update to be a standalone which means if you did not have the application previously, this installs a new application. I uninstall-ed my existing Social App and then used the update and saw that it was a full installation and not just an update for an existing version.

Today, I just had the right occasion to put the N8's HD Recording Capability to rigorous test. I took some amazing videos at a night concert from a distance of 30-40 meters at full digital zoom. Most mobile cameras would have resulted in a hazy video with lights getting scattered across the screen with a mobile optimized audio, Nokia N8 delivered exceptionally. With the stereo mic on N8, the concert's audio is too good to be even shot on a full-fledged HD Video Camera. Just have a look at all the videos listed below. These videos have been uploaded to YouTube without any conversion or editing in a 3rd party tool. Now, I do take pride in owning the Nokia N8 and can say that you can throw away all the iPhones and Galaxies/Waves in to the dustbin. You do not buy a phone to flash it like a fashion accessory or look beautiful. Beauty without brains is a waste and this is where Nokia N8 scores. Long live Nokia N8!!!!!!!!
